Gisa Group looks for high impact interventions where helping one community makes society better for everyone. We ask hard questions and tackle some of the most complex problems.  Projects are developed through a collaborative process. Local needs define how they are designed.

Our work focuses on three themes:

  • How can young people empower themselves to more effectively engage with their government and society?

  • How can emerging civil society achieve transformative justice and accountability for their communities?

  • How can journalism build bridges across a divided society, bring marginalized voices to the forefront while holding the powerful to account?

The Future is Collaborative.

Gisa Group is a registered 501c3 in the United States with offices in New York and Nairobi. We oversee a diverse portfolio of projects and initiatives with global reach. Our current focus is on East Africa where we provide direct and indirect support to our network of organizations, initiatives, and partners. We work with hundreds of journalists, human rights defenders, artists, and technologists.

This networked organizational structure promotes learning and communication across disciplines and communities. It also streamlines internal administrative services and allows us to provide start-up support to our partners. Gisa Group projects are more sustainable and need less funding because we support and grow already work. Together, we all gain from best practices, connections, and resources from across the organization.
